In Photoshop CS when I select "Save for the Web" ImageReady launches but strips all the file info from the image I want to optimize. This is unacceptable and I have looked everywhere in both Photoshop and ImageReady for a setting that will stop this.

Where do I find a setting to turn off this default action? I want to save the file info with the optimized file.

Thank You!

Bruce,

when I select "Save for the Web" ImageReady launches <<

What?? Save for Web is part and parcel of Photoshop and nothing whatsoever to do with IR. IR should NOT be launching by going to Save for Web.

strips all the file info from the image I want to optimize<<

By design – that’s why its called Save for Web. Any meta data will increase file size and the idea of S4W is to give you the smallest possible images. You can maintain .icc profiles (in jpgs) if you choose to do so, but that’s all.

To save meta data you should use Save As, not S4W

Save For Web *does* strip it, to keep file size down to a min. That’s part of "optimize".

If you are using image on web, why do you need the info?

If you want to preserve it, go back to Photoshop and use Save As.

SFW in Photoshop also strips everything (but does give you option to keep ICC only).
