ElDee,
I summarized the key points of the online help in my original post. If you read my original post carefully, you’ll realize that it resembles the online help. I also asked a very specific questions regarding neutralize at the end of the message.
I post the question not because I couldn’t find the online help, but because I’m not sure if my interpretion of the online help is correct.
Anyways, as far as my interpretion goes… I think the key points are that Auto Color actually changes:
1. the near-white to more white
2. the near-black to more black
3. the near-gray to more gray
Whereas, Auto Contrast, does not change any hue, but the brightness only.
Does that sound right to you folks?
TIA

What does Auto Color do? And how is it compared to Auto Contrast?
I understand that Auto Contrast makes highlights appear lighter and
apperar darker while preserving the overall color relationship. So, no color is changed. As for Auto Color, it clips the white and black pixels (that sounds the same as Auto Contrast). In addition to that, it neutralizes the midtones. What does neutralize mean? Making it more greyish?
Can someone shed some light on me please…
TIA

Found by clicking on "Help" on PS7:
The Auto Color command adjusts the contrast and color of an image by searching the actual image rather than the channels’ histograms for shadows, midtones, and highlights. It neutralizes the midtones and clips the white and black pixels based on the values set in the Auto Correction
The Auto Contrast command adjusts the overall contrast and mixture of colors in an RGB image automatically. Because it does not adjust channels individually, Auto Contrast does not introduce or remove color casts. It maps the lightest and darkest pixels in the image to white and black, which makes highlights appear lighter and shadows appear darker.
