Photoshop 7 is colourless

I have photoshop 7 I have in my toolbox to squares that allow me to swap between 2 colurs or set one of them up. NO. I click on one and the colur picker pops up. but no matter what coulour I choose. They remain white and grey.

Probably set under Image/Mode to Grayscale instead of RGB Color

Is your image set to greyscale?

Is your image set to greyscale?

Or you’re on one of the individual Channels instead of the composite channel (RGB or CMYK).
