Hello all, I am a new member to the forum and have a question. I have PS 7.0.1 and I was going over a tutorial to make fire text (text looking like it was on fire, flames and all). However, in the tutorial it stated that I should apply the "wind" filter by going to Filter>>Stylize>>Wind, and I don’t have the wind style. Is there an update or utility that I can download so that I can add this filter style to PS 7.0.1 and apply it to my text?

Thank you.

Hi Cason,

I’m not sure why you’d be missing the Wind filter, since it is one of the default files installed with Photoshop. I found the file in the Photoshop 7.0/Plug-ins/Filters folder as Wind.8BF. If you can verify that file is missing on your system and the error isn’t due to some other cause, then I’d suggest you simply reinstall PS7 and the 7.01 update.

Thanks Daryll, I found the folder (plug-ins)which also contained some other plug-ins, next to the photoshop folder under adobe. Even though there was a folder already named plug-ins in my photoshop folder, I simply drug the first plug-ins folder inside of the photoshop folder.

Thanks again,

Cason

Are you sure that you are working in RGB, 8 bits per color?

I started making the effect in Grayscale mode and then later switched to RGB, 8 bits. I was able to have the Wind filter style in both modes.

Thanks.
