Whenever I try and change the color, by clicking on the color in the toolbar, Photoshop freezes. What happens is that it goes to the eyedropper tool, and won’t change the color of anything I click on, and all the menu options are greyed out. I can not exit, change the color or anything. I am runing this on a Dell computer, with 3.0 ghz’s and 2 gb’s of ram, so that is not the problem. This is Adobe Photoshop 7.0, which I have had for a while.

What version of Windows? What are the rest of the system specs? Does the entire computer freeze or just PS? Can you ctl+alt+delete your way out or do you need to reboot?

Its windows xp pro. Only PS freezes, and I can ctl+alt+delete my way out. System Specs: Intel Pentium IV 3.0 GhZ
Harddrive: 250 GB
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB
Win Xp Pro
Vsync On
75 hz refresh rate

Try turning hardware acceleration down to zero. If that helps, then you have a video driver problem and need to find an updated driver.

Also, are you patched to 7.0.1?

No I’m not patched. And how do I turn the hardware acceleration down to zero? Also, if you could give me the link to 7.0.1, that would be great. Thanks.

Do you get the color dialogue box?
Sounds to me like it’s off screen.

tim, try this:

Robert Levine "Dialog box is missing??" 2/14/04 6:41pm </cgi-bin/webx?13/0>

and if that fails, try this:

Mathias Vejerslev "How to delete/reset Photoshop preferences" 2/11/03 1:04pm </cgi-bin/webx?50>

That was it, because I’ve been using 1600×1200 before, and i switched to 1024×768. Didn’t think of that. I found it in the lower right hand corner. Thanks so much for your help
