Animation in Image Ready

I was hunting around Photoshop CS and got into Image Ready and noticed

it does a whole lot more than prepare images into web sized files,

some features relating to animation.
Can anyone please tell me if Image Ready is a good choice of software to make animations and what sort of animation it can do?
I’m thinking of cell animation (hand drawn sequences like Disney cartoons

simpler Flintstone’s style), stop-motion clay-mation puppets filmed with a camcorder, perhaps using a blue screen to add scenery, or maybe manipulating photos to produce Monty Python style animations. How does Image Ready compare to software such as Painter or After Effects or Premiere Pro or Flash for making animations?
Can it capture frames from a camcorder connected to the computer? Are there any sources where I can find out more about this? Tutorials, articles, websites?

It’s limited – good only for making animated GIFS. That’s a good thing when you MUST make images that will display without plugins or when they MUST have transparency. Of course, animated GIFs with a great deal of animation are usually much larger than, say Flash images.
