I am a games programmer (very amature) and I use Photoshop to create some of my textures. I have always used PNG images because of there ability to save the alpha channel. However, today when I tried to save as PNG I found that the alpha channel checkbox was ‘ghosted out’ so I could not select it. I tried saving anyway but found that there was no transparency saved.
I don’t have any idea why this has happened nor do I know how to change it. I even tried ‘Export Transparent Image’ from the help menu but although it apeared to save correctly, I found that again there was no transparency saved.

Does anybody know how to change whatever it is that I have inadvertantly changed so that I can once again save alpha channels?

Thank you

PNG supports transparency, not alpha channels — that’s part of the PNG spec.

Just make a transparent image in Photoshop and save as PNG.
