Back from Africa, where I was a secular missionary in the Kayon Ghozi’s leprosary (Burundi) because of health reasons, I wrote these lucky Flashes of mine, which got a resounding success ,on Turin’s HOLY SHROUD.
Prof. Harry Gove, which made the Holy Shroud date back to the middle-ages in 1988 by the method 14C, already in 1995, in the light on the latest scientific knowledge, realised that the dating was wrong ..
The Mystery of the Holy Shroud print, which couldn’t be made by men at all, must be correlated to the Mystery of the Resurrection of Jesus,Who was wrapped in the Holy Shroud after being buried and rose from the death in the Holy Shroud.
The Faith we feel in our heart needn’t any confirmation, but Turin’s Holy Shroud becomes an unequivocal one, beyond our will. The end of my Flashes contains a twelve/thirteen lined brief synthesis of my life.

Boring topic
The Virgin Mary Sandwich is far more entertaining.

Unsharp Masking with remove the fuzziness and solve the mystery. Maybe the High Pass Filter will be better. Or is that the Passover filter?

Can’t be printed by a Canon, the inks would have faded by now…

(Yes, I know, tough an Archbishop would be more appropriate <g>)

Nope. That’s a rather large gun. A church Canon is a Canon.

4) The existence of the antichrist is written in the Gospels. “prince of this world”, Jesus calls him. “enemy who came at night to plant the darnel in the corn field”.

The first time I saw the shroud I knew it was a painting. That is because I looked at it as an artist, not as an ecstatic believer.
The old argument about ‘no artist would have painted a photographic negative’ is a red herring. The shroud is not a negative image, but when ‘positivised’ by photography gives the illusion of a positive image. There are other ways of producing such an apparent negative, including the following (which is based on techniques used by Renaissance painters): 1 Prepare the canvas and draw the outline of the cadaver 2 Paint the ground of the cadaver in a dark pigment such as bitumen (a common pigment in those days)
3 Paint the highlights in earth colours such as ochre – these areas will appear light against the dark ground.
4 Test the image for miraculous nature by boiling it in a tub for 24 hours (this was actually done but most Shroud books ignore the fact) 5 The bitumen ground has disappeared (hardly surprising) but a faint trace of the earth colours remains. These now appear dark because the background has washed out.
The result is an image where what was dark has been replaced by the light canvas, and what was light (the highlights) are now dark. In other words, a ‘negative’ or something very like it.
The ‘blood stains’ are noticably red. Real blood would have faded long ago, and vigorous washing would have removed any traces. But red pigments (if any remained) would remain red, just as we see.

No one is responsible for the above suggestion but me. If it is wrong I believe it is only wrong in minor detail.

Don’t reply telling me I am an atheist – I am not. But I think I am a realist.
