PS has been working great… but one time when I opened it up… and ALOT of the filters were missing from the filter thing… it only had Blur, Noise, Pixalate, Sharpen, Stylize, and Other. And even THOSE catagories don’t have all their filters… So I only have about 23 now… 🙁 PLEASE HELP!!!

If an employee could post, that would help alot…

I tried reinstalling it but it dosen’t do anything… If I can find out how to install it again… it might work

Garrett,

Help>About Plugins

What plugins are showing there?

You check the image depth in image->mode as well…

But if the plugins aren’t showing up at all, you’ve moved or deleted some of the plugins folders.

there are alot in help>about plu-ins, but mostly "Alien Skin" demo stuff…

and as for the filters being deleted, I’ve check in the Program files Adobe Photoshop file, and when I went to the plug-ins folder… I checked all of the sub folders. Stuff that was there wasn’t showing up in the prgram, such as "clouds", that filter is gone from the program, but is in the program files.

but there is one unusual thing, when in the Adobe Photoshop>required forlder, there were "DEFAULT" everything, but no "Default Filters"… I don’t know if that is supposed to be in there. If it is, can someone tell me where I can download it?

first reset the prefs per the faq:

Mathias Vejerslev "How to delete/reset Photoshop preferences" 2/11/03 1:04pm </cgi-bin/webx?50>

if that doesn’t fix it, uninstall photoshop from add/remove programs in the control panel, then reinstall it from disk.

does anyone know how to do that?

you need the administrator password. is this a company pc? call your help desk. if it’s yours you should remember it. it’s gonna be tough to do just about anything without it.

Garret, un- and re-installing does not clear the preferences. Please, DO listen to advices here…

Check that your image is not in 16 bit, and the color more is not Indexed or CYMK…

Garret,

There is NO Adobe e-mail technical support. If you want to speak to Adobe Tech support you must do so by telephone. It is the only way.

Two R’s and two T’s (GarretT)… but ok… I guess I’ll call them… It’s been kinda annoying only having 23 filters and not 100…

Filters don’t just go !!!POOF!!! and disappear, especially individual ones.

If you moved stuff around without fully knowing what you are doing. Don’t do that!

Since you haven’t provided much info, I’ll throw this stock answer at you: Fully remove and reinstall Photoshop.

How do I reinstall Photoshop 7 upgrade? Do I have to reinstall Photoshop 5.5?

If I remember correctly, PS7 will require you to have the serial number for your previous registered copy of PS (5.5 or 6) to install. The PS7 upgrade is actually a new full version. You must uninstall the previously installed versions before reinstalling. If not, you will have all new problems to deal with.

Gracious, what a bunch of disinformation in a small package.

To install PS 7 upgrade version:

1. you do NOT have to uninstall previous versions. Previous versions will coexist just fine with 7.
Just make sure PS 7 installs into it’s own folder structure, not on top of a previous version (which is default)

2. It will NOT ask for a previous version’s serial number. If it finds a previous version on the hard drive, it will install automatically. If there is not, it will ask you to insert previous version CD to verify, then re-insert 7 CD to finish installation. The previous version can be an upgrade version also.

3. Photoshop 7 has its own serial number. It was the first version to NOT use a previous full version serial number.

I didn’t Move Anything Around… but the time that it happened I had Double Clicked a Filter File on accident to open up PS… all the times before that… it was fine…

garret, first did you fix your problem? if not try resetting the prefrences per the faq. If that doesn’t work, reinstall the app. no need to uninstall it first. just overwrite everything.

second a forum tip. to quote someone, make the first character on the line a ">" (greater than sign)… like so… the next line will have a > char first, but it won’t show. the forum will interpret it as a quote… watch:

this text starts with a >! the forum turns it into a quote! 🙂

Next question.

I have tried to access Photoshop 7 "Help" — get the following message

Action canceled unable to link to the web page you requested.

Is this a web problem or a Photoshop problem?

Other Adobe products access Help without a problem.
