For the Basics, another good resource that I used was Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Classroom in a Book. I am not a very good "book learner" but this one I actually read cover to cover (Mom would be proud). As for the advanced tips and tricks, see the two comments above because Deke IS the man. Now that I think of it, Deke is good at teaching the basics as well.
