I have an .eps file that I need to save with a transparent background. I did what I usually do- which is to create a new layer, rename the background layer, make it transparent and then delete the other layer. I then saved the file (as a .jpeg, and an .eps) and then placed it in Illustrator. Guess what? I had a white box!!!

Can anyone help? I’m on a deadline. Thanks!

EPS does not support transparency without a clipping path. Why not just save as PSD for placement into Illustrator?

If using Illustrator 9 or later, use a native PSD and transparency will be respected

you can do it by saving the file in .gif format. If u change the mode of file from cmyk or rgb to index after that you save the file in gif mode. the file is now having transperent background.

You’ll also destroy the image in the process.
