There’s a rumour going about from members of the Adobe team that AutoF/X need to look into their software programming. Well, I decided to do my own tests and guess what?

Install of Auto/Fx Photographic Edges 6.0 and then an update to 6.04 as follows:

2 networked machines with both v7.0 and PSCS.

M/C 1. Specification

AMD Athlon 1700 XP Pro
1.46Ghz
512Mb Ram
HD 100GB
SP1

M/C 2. Specification

Intel Pentium 4 CPU XP Home
2.61Ghz
1.00 GB Ram
HD 160 GB
SP1

Machine 1 (Slow)

AutoF/X for machine to boot from cold in PSCS ……..38secs After update……………………………………38secs

AutoF/X for machine to boot from cold in PSv7 ……..7secs After update……………………………………7secs

As you can see, very good speed and no cause for concern although I do have a lack of power and RAM. But wait,

Machine 2 (Fast)

AutoF/X for machine to boot from cold in PSCS ……..56secs After update……………………………………56secs

AutoF/X for machine to boot from cold in PSv7 ……..8secs After update……………………………………8secs

So as you can see. My fastest machine with 1GB of ram actually runs slower, even though it’s dual channel and TWICE the M/C but the significant observation is the difference in speed between PSCS and V7.

Any Explainations Please? And don’t blame AutoF/X

PSCS does consistently run slow on both machines and I don’t like it

Regards

Mark

Mark,

Your Topic Title is approaching, and possibly in fact, libellous. I would be well within my rights to remove it from public view for YOUR protection from legal consequences. Please advise if you would like me to do so.

As has been explained several times on this forum, PSCS checks all files in the plugins folder, including those that are not Photoshop plugins and should not be located there. Chief offender in placing files that do not belong in the plugins folder into that folder is AutoF/X Photographic edges.

Adobe set the rules as to what should and what should not be placed in that folder. AutoF/X Photographic edges does not abide by those rules.

Len,
Apologies etc etc and if removal is best, well go ahead, obviously I was unaware of the protocol regarding programming issues but I was trying to point out the performance issues regarding the PSCS.

Tim, I’m NOT from Auto/FX, It’s a performance issue I’m trying to point out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, even if I agree to the EULA in the UK, can I be proscecuted in the UK?

I don’t know about the UK, but you could get the Boot if you were an Aussie! 🙂

Dave,

I just posted an apology but what seems the strangle-hold where you have an issue with a product and half the nation is squealing down your neck asking you to retract it.

Len, I value your input for these many years and I respect you and I have offered my apology, but what have I texted that is libelous? Is it the "LIAR" context or what?

Anyway, I’ve posted an apology

Mark,

can I be proscecuted in the UK?

Probably not, but that’s not to say that I can’t find someone in the PPNI to revoke your membership!

Not so long ago he’d have been sent to Australia for less.

Ian,

Probably right but the issue of how the print was made MAY not come into play. If we took images using a Hasselblad or Bronica and no PS manipulation was involved, well, who’s to know. It’s up to the integrity of the photographer but if that’s an issue? well 16 years of membership would be questioned. Why don’t you come down sometime. It’s mostly at the Dunadry the 1st week of each month. You’d do well with your Landscapes. I mean it! Dave McLean and a few others have joined now. It’s good.

Mick, there’s probably more Murphys in Australia than in Ireland by now LOL!

I know a good number of your colleagues – Jimmy M, John Mc, Linda S, Jim G, Paul C, David C, Jerry C, etc. etc they know me. Next time you’re in with Philip or Jenny buying that crap paper you swear by ask if they know me 😉 Dunadry is about 15 mins drive from me so may be when I find some time I will 😉 In the meantime you could check out my group : <http://www.pagb-photography-uk.co.uk/>
