Hi there.
I know that this is surely way off topic, but I do not know where to get any help.

WIN XP Prof
I’m considering moving my mail programme from Outlook Xpress to Incredimail. My only concers is that Incredimail does not support NewsGroups. Does Incredimail support NG’s or not? This will be VERY important for me.

Once again apollogies for the OT post.

Regards,

Deon H

Not only off topic, but you could have found the answer with a simple Google search.

Thanx for the reply, Tom.
Only thing is that incredimail’s site doesn’t say anything about ng’s. All I wanted to know, does it or does it not support ng’s.

thanx for your time

That should be a pretty good clue that it doesn’t.

Try and download a specific newsgroup prog, Xnews is excellent. This why you can use incredimail and still read newsgroups.

Why? There are vastly superior news readers available, many cheap or free. Take the XNEWS I’m using for example. None of the M$ security holes, fast, mucho more features, mucho more customizeable, yEnc support, updated on a regular basis, completely free.

The attraction of combing news and mail in one app escapes me, even though I used Netscape for some time.

Hi Eric.

Thanx for your reply. I have downloaded and installed XNEWS – this message comes from XNEWS.
I find it EXCELLENT. Only have to figure out how to keep read news messages on my machine. How can I have this app ownly download new headers and messages?

Thanx for your suggestions!

Keep well.

Mine is The Bat. Pure mail, no Usenet, no MS security holes and infinitely customizable with regexs.

Thank you for coming out as a user of Netscape. That must have been difficult and I’m sure we all appreciate the soul searching you must have had. Group hug anyone?

😉

Tried it at one time, kept freaking it out with the volume of mail I have stored. Hopefully that has been cleared up since.

(It’s not like Eudora doesn’t freak for the same reason, just not if you keep the in and Trash folders at less than 300 pieces. Don’t ask me why.)

Hey, now – I still use it in preference of IE (IEEEE!). Opera was even better, until it developed the habit of eating my bookmarks every few days(!).

I started using XNEWS because the basic interface is a lot like the newsreader in Netscape, just lots better.

😉

Right, right.I feel like I’ve been bathed in New Age psychobabble and need a shower.

Deon, check out this website for help setting up Xnews. It’s extremely flexible and can be customized to do most anything you need a newsreader to do.

Thanx very much for your post. The info on the link is very helpfull, especially for me as a newbie to XNEWS.

Yeah, must’ve been an early version. I know people who have hundreds of megs of stored mails in the Bat. Takes a while to backup, mind 😉

Ouch. I like Opera, and use it a lot. I keep IE for sites which have a problem with Opera. Like Microsoft 😉

Right. The newsreader in NS is awful. Even worse than Outhouse Express IMHO.

Yes, I’ve recently bought a firewire Maxtor 200 Gb as my main backup. Works like a charm, and it’s not so slow actually (I bought the 7200 rpm DV rather than the slower 250Gb drive).

Well, NS 7.1 came out today, and I installed it. Crash-crash-crash.

LOL! Of course, I won’t add to your problems by saying I told you so… 😉
