Anyone know how to get rid of the compression size dialog box in Photoshop when you run a batch action and save over the existing file?

I am running a resize action to resize all the images to be low res. I have created a droplet and sometimes (can’t figure out why) when i run the droplet the jpeg compression dialog box opens. Why and how can i set maximum quality to be default???

Never had this problem with PS 6 but do spasmotically with CS????

Please help

use ‘save as’ rather than ‘save’ in the action.

Thanks for teh replay Dave,

What i am working with is a droplet. Basically there is an action with an image size command in it that is all. I have created this as a droplet. i am dragging the folder with highres images in it onto the droplet. there is no save or save as in the action.

any ideas???

if there’s no save in the action used to create the droplet, then no i’m not sure. i am sure that the save as will over ride that dialog, so if you can rework the action to contain it it would probably work.

what are the exact steps in the action? just the one image resize? how does it know to resave it then?

Mate:

Looks like Dave is on the right track, as usual. I don’t have CS, but this may help…

In addition to the Image size command, in this case I believe you’ll need a Save As… command, too — even though you are replacing the existing file. When you record the Save As command you’ll have to specify a folder and compression setting.

In the create droplet dialog:
* Destination: "Save and Close"
* Destination: Turn on option "Bypass Action ‘Save as’ commands"

The 2nd setting will honor the Save and Close (for location, ignoring the folder recorded) as well as honor the .jpg compression setting w/o the annoying dialog.

See if this works.

thanks for the backup danny, i’m not huge on droplets. i use actions mostly to make my life inside ps easier. 🙂

will give it a go but the only problem i think that a save as will keep using the same name (overwriting each file in teh process) this will make a batch useless.

I’ll give your suggestion a go
