Can anyone tell me if PSCS will run on the Mac OS Leopard? I’m considering upgrading to Leopard from Panther, but I’d like to know if my copy of PSCS will run on Leopard before I buy it.

On my Macs, even CS2 doesn’t run on Leopard.

Yeah, right. Let’s turn this into a Mac versus PC discussion… No thanks.

People may decide to switch from a (fast) PC to a Mac for different reasons than you might at first think. My new Mac arrived yesterday, pre-configured with CS4 suite and MS Office already installed, thanks to a switched on technician I bought it from.

I have no idea at this point in time if it is better or worse than a PC but what I can tell you is that it "sees" all it’s memory and Photoshop uses a serious amount of it. Something that doesn’t happen on a PC.

Editing a 160 MB file is as easy as opening it and going to work. My quad core PC struggles to do that. Likewise HD video editing is a breeze with the Mac where the PC struggled under Premier when the presentation I worked on went over 15 minutes.

I don’t know anything about Apple computers. I took the recommendations of a technician I trust. I paid a premium too. Something like 50% over the price I see similar Macs on sale for. So far the investment looks good value to me.

I asked the fellow I bought it from about running some Apple software I already have from a previous Mac, including the Leopard OS I still have. He laughed and asked me if I was serious.

I guess from that, using Leopard is a big no, no for photographers. Time will tell if I decide to change all my PCs but for now, publishing and presentation in my studio has just become a little easier and a lot faster. I still have more PCs than Macs. Let’s not get involved in a PC V Mac war as the PC is still better at many things.

It has seemed to me for some time that Apple and Adobe aren’t coordinating their efforts very well. Considering that a fair portion of Apple’s market is with the graphic design industry, I would think they would make a bigger effort.

I’m not avocating one or the other, but just noticing the trend of lack of cooperation between the two companies.
