I confess to double posting this query here and on the printer forum…thought some of you Photoshop mavens might know…

I love my Epson 2200 and use the 8.3 and 13 inch rolls for much of my work. One thing that bugs me is that when using the paper cutter, it trims off exactly 1" of paper each and every time I send a print through the machine.

Since I nearly always use the roll cutter – the end should be very straight already, so I don’t understand this wasteful feature. Is there any way to eliminate this trimming step?? Not only does the floor become littered with 1" strips, but Epson cheats me out of several prints a roll.

I don’t get it!?!
Any insights?
Zach

There is a setting on some HP printers to use small margins and not trim until the next print begins. It’s a matter of roller grips & such.

I don’t mind a one inch margin on the print itself, in fact I want a bit of a margin – its the one inch that the auto cutter cuts off each time BEFORE the printing begins and drops to the floor that I find wasteful and unnecessary.

The expanded (contracted) margins setting on an HP controls that. With it on you get smaller white space at the bottom but have to manually punch form-feed-cut or else wait for the next picture because it needs that for gripping the paper. If you turn it off you get the extra attached to your print. Maybe you have a similar setting.

I have the 2200 and have used a roll of 4" x 32′ exactly once. False economy, lots of trouble. Cheaper to buy 4×6 precut. Really!

Sorry, your question… did you search Epson Help in the print utility? Or Epson’s on-line help??

"Save Roll Paper
Select this to help prevent some white space from being fed at the end of the document."

Don’t really have that option when printing panoramics 2-3 feet long. Zach
