I’m running Photoshop 7.x on MacOSX 10.3.x. I’m processing a large number of documents I received from a Windows user. The filenames are quite long, and I have found that in the process of saving the modified files to a new location, Photoshop truncates the finelame to the MacOS Classic limit of 31 characters (though HFS+ and OSX can handle filenames of up to 256 characters). In the "Batch" dialog box, I see three checkboxes for filename compatability: Windows, OS9 and UNIX. OS9 is unable to be unchecked. Is there any way I can force Photoshop to ignore the OS9 limitations and save the modified file in a different loaction under it’s proper name?

Any one who considers arithmetical methods of producing random digits is, of course, in a state of sin.
