When I open a folder containing .psd’s I just get the Photoshop default icon instead of a preview picture. Can anyone explain to me how I my get a preview like a jpg or gif would?

Adobe stopped it in CS for some reason.

You can get the bigger Thumbnails, if in View you select Thumbnails, and then when you switch back to Icons, sometimes the little Icon Thumbnails will appear.

Having said that it sometimes does not work, until you open Properties for each of the PSDs and ensure that there is a tick in the Thumbnail box. It is rather a "hit or a miss" sort of thing, but once you get it working, it will keep working.

They stopped it because the psicons.dll was a piece of crap and caused all sorts of problems.

In my PC with Windows XP, Home Edition, SP2, with all updates, and CS with all updates, the .PSD files thumbnails display quickly in Explorer, with no problems — even when Adobe says it shouldn’t because the psicon.dll is not installed with CS, and, it doesn’t appear to be left over from PS 7. Odd, but a pleasant surprise.
