ps cs can’t view nef imaages from D70

I want to simplify the process of viewing, editing and storing nef images to jpeg for slide show. I purchased photoshop cs to do this, but cannot view the nef files.
I am so frustrated… This is what I did:
-uninstalled Capture and Picture Perfect

-moved Nikon Plugin LE to the desktop

– downloaded camera raw update from adobe to desktop

– dragged it into the correct "formats file" and unzipped

When I try to open my CD of NEF pictures with Photoshop Cs, I get a message ….could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document

The Nikon plugin works fine with PS7 on my system. You also can use Capture and Picture Perfect. to create jpg files.

It isn’t real clear to me why you did what you did…
