Hello

I’ve got a folder full of images and want to reduce them all to 800 pixels high to make windows wallpaper out of them.

I’ve written an action which works fine, however, I’ve noticed CS2 runs the entire folder very quickly…. whereas the same exact action runs much more slowly in CS3.

Any obvious reason, has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Could be your color settings. If the images are converted to another color space upon opening, that will slow down the action. By the way: you’ve reinvented the wheel. Photoshop comes with the Image Processor which does everything your action does (and more).
