hi folks

does anyone have any tips for lightening photos of people with darker skins so their features can be seen. im creating jpegs for web use (often 100*100px) but often end up with features that are hard to discern (doesnt help that the photographers arent lighting their pics properly)

tks in advance

"Every time I see an adult on a bicycle," HG Wells wrote, "I no longer despair for the human race."

"I’ll tell you what I think of bicycling. I think it has done more to emancipate women than any one thing in the world. I rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a bike. It gives her a feeling of self-reliance and independence the moment she takes her seat; and away she goes, the picture of untrammelled womanhood."
Susan B. Anthony, 1896

other than using Curves….there is often better shadow detail available in LAB mode L channel.
try pasting a copy of the L channel, set its blend mode to Luminosity and the Blending Options slider to fade in on the shadows.
