Flatbed Scanners

Epson. Stay away from HP. HP’s technology for their scanners and their printers including laser and inkjet is getting to the point it is very outdated. Epson in my opinion makes the best flatbed scanners.

I bought a large format mustek a3 that is a total piece of junk. I’ve returned it twice but it still scans horribly. Avoid that one!

Flatbeds range into the tens of thousands of dollars, bud. Maybe more – used to be, certainly, but I haven’t cheked in a few years.

You’ll get a top of the
line Epson scanner for a lot less than that. But are you after a large format scanner? That’s a different ball game.

There are a number of "normal" (roughly letter or legal) sized flatbeds that fall in between $450 and $1,500. UMAX has a half-dozen or so, as an example.

Whether any are worthwhile or not is another question entirely.

We just tossed a bunch of not so old UMAX scanners. UMAX no longer produces those and there is ZERO support.

No, I have an HPSJ3C which can take legal sized documents which is ample fro my needs esp when most of my work is up to 8×10 photos.
