When I shoot pics with 3200 K lights using a Canon 1Ds, the JPEG’s are on the money for color balance. However, the RAW (TIFF) images when viewed in PS-CS are way off (the Temp is set to 3200 in the camera and AsShot is selected). Using the White Balance probe and an included gray scale, the temperature gets set to 2600 to 2800 K with a tint setting of -5 to -17.

What am I missing here? Is there some literature online that addresses this?

Many thanks….

Todd

It is not clear to me when you say the 3200 K is "on the money for color balance". How are you viewing that?

I have the Canon 1Ds set to 3200 K for white balance and I have the Canon set to take both JPEG and RAW images. On my calibrated monitor, the JPEG looks great in PS-CS…no changes need to the color. However, if I view the RAW image (with the file type as a confusing TIFF!), the color is way off in the AsShot mode (color temperature shows, as expected, as 3200).
