getting rid of a grid

I was about to use the text tool, I made a space to type and once I started typing a grid appeared over my entire image and I don’t know how it happened or how to get rid of it. I am sure there is a simple way to get rid of it, but I do not know how. Thanks.

ctrl+’ is the default keyboard command to turn the grid on and off.
