Am using airbrush round Clone Stamp Tool airbrush to remove dust spots, hairs, etc. from sky areas of color photos. Drop down menu offers other shapes, e.g., fuzzy ball, star, etc., but can I create a custom shape, e.g., oval, circle with a dent, etc.? Also, sometimes tool gets lost because its color is too similar to photo color, e.g., purple dusk sky. Can I customize tool color to be either black or white, determined automatically by photo color which it is over?

Regards, JG.

Jeff,

You can create a custom brush:

Create a custom brush from an image or portion of an image. You can create a new brush tip based on a selection in an image. Photoshop adds the tip to the Brushes palette.

a.. In the Layers palette, select the layer containing the image you want to use for your brush.
b.. Using a selection tool, select the area of the image that you want to use as a brush tip.
c.. Choose Edit > Define Brush Preset.
d.. In the Brush Name dialog box, type a name for the brush, and then click OK. Photoshop adds the new brush preset to the Brushes palette, using the selection for the brush tip.

Can I customize tool color to be either black or white<<

No. You can however create a Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer to change the colour of the image temporarily and then switch off the adjustment layer

LenHewitt & all,

Thanks for response. I am using Clone Stamp Tool without using layers. I am making changes to photo & saving changes. Can I change tool from circle to, say, an oval without using layers? Regards.

Jeff,

In that case the layer in question will be ‘Background’
