Hi,

I’ve rebuilt a machine for someone who has an upgrade version of PS 7.0, and previously ran 5.0, which was an upgrade from 3.x. When I install the 7.0, it asks to insert the 5.0 CD which I do but I get the following error:

Verification Error: A qualifying version of Photoshop was not detected.

Please try again or cancel the installation.

If you have a valid copy of Photoshop that was not detected, please call Adobe Customer Service for assistance.

Does anyone know why I get this error and how to solve it?

Thanks,
JEff

you may need to call adobe customer support with the v3 serial # to get the upgrade going. they’ll give you a special code and install sequence for older versions of ps.

Try this:

Copy the installer for the 7.0 upgrade to your harddrive. Place the 5.0 CD in the CD drive and then launch the 7.0 installer.

That will help you avoid the CD swap that can sometimes lead to that problem.
