so in my seach for a glld tablet, someone pointed out aiptek. they have a tablet for $119 that seems decent… called the HyperPen 12000U.

it seems ok, does anyone have any info on this tablet? their product website is here:
http://www.aiptek.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&amp ;Product_Code=R-HP12U&Category_Code=T1

since it has a huge drawing area (12×9 inches) and 512 levels and is only $119 it seems like a steal. plus it works with photoshop and all the other major graphic suites.

i dont necessarily NEED a wacom tablet if this tablet is an alternative and good choice.

any ideas?
thanks in advance.

Build quality is awful. Unless you do a lot of your own drawings from scratch, the tablet size is too big. You’re far better off buying a smaller Wacom. There’s a reason professionals use them…

Had the Aiptek for a while (about three months). During this time there were several versions of the driver software, some were better and some worse, but none of them able to cancel out this annoying "jitter" that made fine control impossible. Got frustrated and bought the Wacom (Graphire3 6×8). No jitter, excellent fine control, and the "flip over for eraser" like a pencil is just too cool and useful.

I have a few other Aiptek devices that range from "fun toy" to surprisingly good, but I really have to give their drawing tablet a major thumbs down.

buy the Wacom.

If you search with google you will find that the reviews are not that good. Probably, the biggest complaint is in the driver implementation and the fact that if preforms about as good as the cheapest wacom.
