Mr. Cox’s abrasive and abrupt manner are legendary in these precincts, and the fact that he has not made any apparent attempt to moderate his tone over the years lends strength to the theory that he basically enjoys ticking people off. Most of us are used to it by now.

This isn’t to say that he isn’t right as to the facts, of course, but I certainly wouldn’t want to be in any class he was teaching.

Reminds me of a t-shirt slogan seen at E3 last week:

""Do I Look Like a Freakin’ People Person?""

I’d sign up for a programming seminar taught by chris in a heartbeat!

Malameel,
Advice from a non-expert, but it has worked for me. CS loads as fast and works as fast on my machine as PS7. I have two HD’s like you, but non-raid.
On disk 0 I have Windows XP and a seperate partition (2 GB) for PSCS scratch. On disk 1 I have Photoshop CS and a separate partition (2GB) for Windows page file. With an Athlon XP2500+ and 1 GB RAM the efficiency of CS very rarely drops below 100%. 60% of this 1GB RAM is allocated to CS.
For what it’s worth!!

roger…I have a new computer with two 73GB hard drives. One has all my files the other is empty and I use it as a scratch disk. I now need to use part of the empty hard drive for storage. What’s a good way to partition? I have heard that XP PRO doesn’t work well with Partition Magic. Is there another program you would recommend?
Many thanks.

Hi Hallinan,
Like I said before I’m no expert but I do know that Partition Magic 7 or 8 will work just fine with XP Pro. However, if you just want to create partitions format them and name them, then you can do all that with the disk management tool in XP. Have a look and read the Help.
Start > Run > diskmgmt.msc

Hallinan,

If there is no data on the drive just partition via the O/S’s disk management. You’ve no data to lose, so no need to do anything BUT use the disk management.
