Basically you need to select the face, Copy and Paste it into a new layer on top of the new head. There are many challenges:

– Getting it to blend in around the edges – maybe feather the selection or use a fuzzy layer mask [I’d do the latter]

– Colour matching – curves perhaps

– Scale – use Transform/Scale

What you want to do looks easy, but requires great skill and practice to do well.

One thing I do when transposing a head to another picture is after cut and place the head on the new picture while the head layer is selected I change the opacity to around 50 so that I can line up the eyes and adjust size to match the original layer. I quick mask out the on wanted background on the layer then change the opacity back to 100 and finish the quick mask.

Many ways to do it but this works for me most of the time.

I just found this newsgroup, so this may have been answered before. I have a brief tutorial on this at my yahoo briefcase located at http://briefcase.yahoo.com/truenorth100 It’s the first of the faking tutorials. be patient, it takes a while to download as it’s a .doc word document.

I am not sure I understand the problem. I use the copy and paste often if I have a photo where someone blinks but is otherwise the best of the bunch. Are you concerned that the "old" head shows from behind the "new" head? Then you have to remove or shrink the old head. Use the clone tool to reconstruct the background behind the head….remove everything that would be in the wrong place. Then cut and paste.
