I really need help! badly, I am a graphic designer and I’m having a problem with all the versions on Adobe Photo shop. And my clients and going into fits getting really mad because I can’t design their stuff. They’re ready to burry me alive!!

I am running Windows XP just for information purposes, When I open photoshop CS it says:

Adobes primary scratch and windows page filing are set on the same volume, this may result in reduced performance. Set adobes primary scratch to a different volume, preferably on a different physical drive.

Then when I click ok , it goes ahead loading, then says there’s not enough ram, but I have 512MB and when the guy at the shop said when he inserted an extra 512 id didn’t make a difference, he said its a problem with the software. It says the exact same thing with Adobe Photo shop CS and 7.0. I Need a fix for this REALLY badly. Beyond badly my business is going down the tubes! HELP PLEASE.

The scratch disk notice is informational only.
Just set to c:\ if you only have one hard drive.

As for the RAM message, seems there is a likely specific fix, but in the meantime before other more capable folks offer advice, first thing to try is deleting prefs.

Holding down control+alt+delete just after starting PS is easiest. You hae to be QUICK on a fast sustem.

If PS is set to C;/Program Files/Adobe, go into Edit>Preferences and set to D:/ assuming you have a partitioned drive/s

That’ll sort it out.

Now it says, Unable to continue because of a hardware or system error. Sorry but this error is unrecoverable.

I am ready to cry!

You weren’t quick enough.
Press them IMMEDIATELY after hitting your start link.

If you just can’t catch it, refer to the manual removal method in the link I put in post.

Documents and Settings\[user profile]\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\7.0\Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Settings

In the manual removal that is the location of the file, but I dont even have a Application Data folder in the user profile folder

The path I followed was

C://Documents and Settings/user profile/

Be sure to set Win Explorer (or My Computer) to show all files, including System and Hidden.

That’s why the three-fingered salute on keyboard is preferred, and you should be able to do it that way, just need to be quicker.

Doctor Mac to the rescue,

The operation was successful, the patient is dead (or at least his control of the English language is).
