Anybody ever use the Spyder color calibration tool? It sticks on your monitor and is supposed to somehow match the monitor to your print source? My monitors are so far from calibrated, it’s sad – but I don’t want to drop $100 until I get some feedback…

Thanks

I’m a professional portrait photographer. I don’t use one but have friends that do.They use it about once a week to keep color balance on all pro images
consistent. I think most are several hundred dollars.

I currently use the Spyder II, though I’ve been using similar products for years. It calibrates your monitor to an established reference standard. It makes it easier to see how a change on screen will affect output to a printer. However it works best when your input source (scanner) and your output device (printer) are also calibrated.

I use vuescan to calibrate my scanners and Monaco EZ-Color to calibrate my monitor and printer.

The result is consistent prints that accurately reflect both what I see on the screen and the original source.

I use the Monaco Optrix and it works great if you have profiles for your printer as well.
