Yep, I have the Nikon 5000, I’ve transferred it’s own files back to the card and also from my old different camera to the card. I placed them in the Nikon folder. I’ve done this to have the pictures printed at Teds

I’ve done so with a variety of cameras but never tried it on any Nikon. Probably.

It can certainly be done with any CF card reader, as it treats the CF as a mounted disc. Copied back pictures may not display on the camera using this method, however, but you can certainly use it for transport, temporary storage, or the like.
