I have a Kodak RFS 2035 scanner that worked fine on win 98 & 2000, but I cannot get it operational on XP. Device Mgr recognizes it, but when I try to import with Photoshop 7 I get the message "ASPI not initialized". I have both aspi32.dll and wnaspi32.dll installed. Any ideas on what I can do to get it working…if not I’ll have to reinstall Win 98 on another drive so I can use it.

Did you do latest ASPI from Adaptec?
4.71.2

Did you run aspichk.exe to check installation?

Probably you have, but thought I’d mention.
Maybe just reinstalling it will "take", might have not registered correctly or somesuch.

Have installed 4.71.2 but still cannot get the scanner operational. My SCSI card is the 2040…;is it possible that I may need a more current one.

No that card should be fine.

You ran the aspichk.exe to verify correct inatallation?
SCSI chain properly terminated?

I’m thinking more on line that the twain installed for it is not XP compatible or somesuch.

– can you scan into ANY application with TWAIN?
– what about the Kodak software scanner interface, will it run standalone and scan? If so, then you’ve narrowed it down to a TWAIN prob.

You might well want to ask on UseNet at comp.periphs.scanners. Know that there are folks there who use that model (or at least have).

Also, not sure if VueScan supports it or not (hamrick.com). Look at supported models there and see. Might be another option, although it’s not a TWAIN interface (free evaluation download).
