I created an image, with several layers, in Photoshop 6. I then transfered over to ImageReady 3 and created an animated gif. The gif appears fine in any program, except the one I created it for. In that program the background appears transparent, even though I’ve been very careful not to have any transparency in the image. I wrote the support staff and they said…

"In the color palette of your gif, there are two same white color with different index, one of them is set as transparent, the other is not. But in the gif engine, all colors same as the transparent one will be rendered to transparent, no matter what the index is. So you can see previous frames because the new frame is drawed transparently over previous frames."

I cannot find anywhere in Photoshop or ImageReady to check the color palette/index. I guess I’m not sure what the support staff means. How do I find this index to set my colors as non-transparent? (I have wrote the support staff back asking how and what they did, but haven’t heard back as of yet.)

I’m really hoping one of you knows what to do.

Thanks
Jackie

One way to get rid of transparency is in ImageReady’s Optimize palette.

Expand the palette by clicking on the up/down arrow icon on the palette tab, and make sure
"transparency" is not checked.

If that doesn’t do the trick, do a search for "transparency" in the help for ImageReady.

Mike,

Thanks a million! That was it! I didn’t even know that particular menu was there. I guess I’d better get my book back out and read about some of the features, huh?

Thanks again.
Jackie

Not sure what your question is or even if you have one. I’ll take a guess and suggest you look at "Choosing custom colors (Photoshop)" in Help.
