Save As… File Type Problem :: Help Please

When I make a picture on PS CS and try to save it :: File>Save As… I dont get any options for saving… I only get; psd, cin, pdf, raw, png, tif. I dont have a jpeg or gif or any of those formats… Any ideas?

What do you mean?
its a thing I have made so its a .psd but .psd’s are huge and i wanna make it into a jpg or gif but theirs no option for jpg etc under save as

Look under Image/Mode.
What mode is the image currently in?

Perhaps you still have the file in layers. It would need to be flattened before it can be saved as a JPG or GIF file. If you change it to Indexed Colour for GIF, PS should automatically ask if you want to flatten the layers/image.

Just a thought…

You could also be in 16 bit mode which prevents you from saving as a jpeg. Change the mode to 8 bit and all options will appear.

Tony – only file types that can support the current image mode and depth will be shown.

So your image is probably 16 bit/channel RGB (judging by the formats listed). JPEG only supports 8 bits/channel.
Change the image to 8 bits/channel.

I think i got it… I didn’t realise that in save for web you could change the file output 🙂
