I’m a student who bought Photoshop 7 from buysUSA.com for my pc. I’ve had no trouble with the software until last night (05/31/04) when I started up the program to finish a document I had started and a dialog box saying couldn’t start.. the serial number has expired. Could someone please help me with this? I really would like to finish these projects of mine.

bad news tia, that’s a pirate site. you probably gave them your cc info. cancel the card immediately and check for fraudulent charges. keep an eye on your credit report in the near future.

next time when you see something like:

"Search around online, you will NOT find a deal like this anywhere else. This is the full retail version of Adobe 7.0 Photoshop, the coveted graphic design tool that has been out of reach for so many due to its high price tag, which can now be yours for over $600 off the retail price, just $49.99"

and:

"As bundled software it qualifies for all online upgrades but does not qualify for technical support registration from Adobe."

you should know it’s too good to be true. it’s been reported many times to you should drop them a note too. you’re pretty much outta luck. out your money, and possibly the victem of identity theft if you don’t act fast!

as a student you’re able to buy a legit version for the educational price (i think it’s aroun $160.00 for the full, legal version).

AND…

You may very well be able to get you money reimbursed because you were duped into a fraudulent transaction.

Contact Customer Service at your credit card issuer IMMEDIATELY with all details.

Since the answer is already clear, I’ve deleted the name of the site that sold the software. How these people stay in business is beyond me.

It’s obviously a clear lack of policing on the net. In the wake of protecting against child pornography, certainly there should be laws against this as well. My Inbox is crammed with them but we’ll not go down that road.

don’t reply to this thread (Mine personally) as i don’t want this to go "Read Only" on my account, personnal reply only. Carry on with Tia’s reply

TIA,

Contact your credit card company imeadiately and if they can’t stop the transaction, you can write them (surface mail, registered, return receipt) when the charge shows up on your statement giving the facts and telling them that you are disputing the charge.

My understanding is that that will put a hold on any interest being charged for that amount until it has gone through review and will remove the charge if the review determines that it was fraud.

I would also contact Adobe directly and give them the full information including the serial number (if any) with the package. Ask them to send you a letter stateing that the software sale was fraud and enclose a copy of that with your letter to the credit card people.

"is getting tired of forwarding e-mails to various "

I quit bothering with doing that.

Seems the sites andf the emails are only proliferating, and the offers are showing up at all sorts of legitimate places, such as Amazon.

Somebody or somebodies apparently don’t care to use some of their resources to put a stop to these bastids. I’m tired of spending my time and effort forwarding the emails I get.

You can be sure that if you and I and so many others are getting them, so too are the Adobe employees getting them, in their own personal home accounts. Let them mess with it.

Guys,

I was trying to sort this thread so we DON’T talk about SPAM etc. Let’s try to deal with TIA’s problem.

Maybe we can sort a new "SPAM" thread.

They’re putting so much work into activation and all that how can you expect them to deal with a little thing like mass pirates. Oh wait. That’s what activation was for right? :/

In all fairness, why do you think these pirate sites are still selling PS 7?

they’re selling 7 for 49 bux and cs for 169. if there’s a market there’s a market. the better question is why are they making life difficult for legit users with activation when the pirate sites just keep on operating. that site’s been there for EVER! I’ve personally reported it a couple times. Why don’t they contact amazon about removing the "backup only" version sites from their marketplace lists. It just plain stinks.
