I just bought Photoshop 7.0 and set a size of 795pxl x 595pxl to a new window. When I previewed the image I created in the browser it was so much larger than 795 X 595. Is there something in the initial set up that I have to change? I cannot understand why this is happenening.
In advance, thank you for any suggestions you may have.

I would check first of all my zoom settings and then my screen resolution. 1024 x 768 is usually normal but you can go 800 x 600 although this is pretty big. (Good for the web though)

Mess about and see what works

My suspicion is that you are not viewing your document at 100% in Photoshop, and that when you place the image into a browser window, it then displays at its "actual" size.

With the image open in Photoshop, double-click on the magnifying glass tool. This will cause the image to appear at it’s actual pixel size.

My moniter is set to 1024 x 768, I set the "new" window in Photoshop to display at 795 x 595 and my zoom is on 100%. Is there anything I am missing?

Nik,

Try printing the image out. If it measures your dimensions it’s OK but if not you need to change your screen res.

It seems you’re not filling the screen with 100% zoom, in actual pixel mode and your screen resolution is low. Monitors only reflect the appropriate resolution, real res is from print. what is it you’re trying to sort out? Print or Web?

I’m working with web.

In order to get the resolution of 795 x 595, I have to set the dimensions of the new window to 776 x 453. Can you tell me step by step how to configure what you mentioned regarding the moniter and such? I don’t completely understand what I need to do.
