Hi – this is a new one on me! I had to reinstall Photoshop 7 and the 7.01 update last night and ran into a strange problem. I copied the ps701up.exe file to my desktop and ran it from there. After it unzipped the data1.cab file, it began installing HWdoctor (a motherboard utility). After attempting this several times, I decided to move the ps701up.exe file into a new folder on my desktop. After doing this, the update installed properly.

Anyone know what’s going on here?

empty out your temp folder (also check windows\temp and docs & settings\USERNAME\temp).

Hi Dave,

I think I tried this already but maybe not for ALL temp folders. Would that explain why the update works properly when run from a different folder than the desktop folder? I would have thought the installation files would always be copied to the same temp folder regardless or where the installer was.

Anyway, I’ll try again. thanks
