Hello, all,

I see slow loading is a common topic, but I haven’t seen the equivalent situation to mine explored or solved:

Since I installed PS Elements 3 on the same computer (3.2 G Intel with 1 G memory and a 200 MB dedicated
scratch disc) as PS CS, they both show the same characteristic problem: The processing notes move along smartly until "ReadingText Global Resources … Done" and then they seem to stall. Nothing going on, apparently; however, if I wait long enough – two or three or four minutes – it all comes right and the program is useful.

Does anyone know what the operation that follows "ReadingText Global Resources … Done" is, and what could be keeping it going for so long?

Certain operations within the program seem to generate similar fits of non-activity, like Save For Web, when the first time it’s called the save dialog jumps right up, but the second time it hesitates an inordinate interval.

Before PS E3, PS CS was a little lazy loading, but the 2- 3- 5-minute thing is ridiculous, and the interrupted workflow once it is working is intolerable.

I have uninstalled PS E3, checked for excessive plugins, memory assignment, default printer, and even installed a copy of Norton Systemworks I got a few months ago but saw no need for. It "corrected" a couple hundred problems it said it found, but still …

As is true for all problems, I fantasize a simple switch to solve it, but I’m willing to do a little work, if absolutely necessary. Big smile.

I’ll certainly appreciate any insights and encouragement, or comiseration, if that’s forthcoming.

Thank you for your kind attention.
