Ok stupid question time, or at least it sounds like one to me, but prior to upgrading to CS, I always used a freeware plug in to create any and all buttons I’ve used for various websites. Well, needless to say it’s that time again and now that I have CS, and don’t have all day to search for a plug in for this, it seems no one has any yet, I was wondering if there was a way of doing this using what comes with CS, or is this an Image Ready toy? Unfortunatly I’ve been too stinking busy to play with IR, and never played with PS enough to figure out how to do that without the plugin. Oh and I’m not looking to do anything spectacular, just a simple beveled button (for now, I wont need to know how to do anything more spectacular for the fore seeable future)

So any help would be greatly apprecieted!

THANKS! (in advance) 😀

I’m a little bit confused by your question, but this should clear it up: You know how to insert them into a web page once its made, right?

Assuming the answer to that is "yes," then you want to learn how to use layer styles to get a "simple beveled button". There are other methods, but that is the easiest way.

* Create the shape of the button using any method you choose, but make sure it is on it’s own layer! I prefer using a vector-based Shape Layer. (Use the Rectangle tool or any of the tools under it to create a quick button.)
* Double click on the right side – not on the layer name – of the layer and a layer effects dialog box should come up. Play with them to taste, and look for more info in the help files.
* Now, just crop to taste and use "Save for Web." No ImageReady needed!

Yep, I know how to add them to webpages, just don’t know how to create them in PS without the use of those oh so makes life simple plug-ins. 🙂

Thanks again for the help, that should do it. 😀

watch me come running back here for more help because my brain will refuse to get those simply instructions. ;p
