Cropping out an image..help please

How do I crop out an image to get rid of the background.

For example …. a photo of a person … I want the person cut out the same way as I would if I took a pair of scissors to the photo. Then I can place the person over top of a completely different background.

I can’t seem to find the tools or procedure to do this

Help Please

It all depends on the hoto. If you have a photo of a person with slicked-down hair standing in fromt of a green wall, you can use the magic wand tool to select the background. Then invert the selection and copy/paste the person to a new image.

If on the other hand it is a person with wind-blown hair against a similarly colored background (similar to the hair) the job is real nasty. You must use the laso tool and do it manually, pixel by pixel. There may be a better way but I do not know it.

go to quickmask mode and paint on the mask…more exact than the lasso

….but still can be a nasty job
