Hi,

I have a photoshop file that somehow has a mask on it which prevents me from writing to any of the layers. I am not sure how it got there and would like to know if someone knows how to get it off.

Many thanks,

Paul

If I am understanding your question correctly, you should look at your layers palette and make sure that the little lock icon at the top of the palette isn’t checked.

Hi,

I clicked that box that you mentioned but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I can move between the layers by clicking them as one would normally do to make it the current one but the ‘write’ box at the layer name doesn’t check. The layer name highlights but that’s about it that happens.

Do you have other suggestions?

Does anyone out there have another idea on this?

Paul,
can you upload the .psd file to your webserver so that someone can download it and look at it?

Explain what you mean by a layer with a mask on it. Are you trying to add text on an area of a layer that has been masked out?

Paul,

Are you sure the file isn’t in Indexed Colour Mode? If it is, convert to RGB
