Gradient Tool leaves dimples??

I’m wondering if anyone can tell me why, when I am using the gradient tool (in Photoshop Elements), at the point where I begin to drag, it leaves a raised dimple. Rather perplexing. Ken

Sounds as though you have it set on the wrong gradient style. Click the ‘straight gradient’ box on the Options Bar.
(This is based on Photoshop v.6 but it might be similar in Elements). Hope this is the right solution.
