So I’m trying desperately to learn how to use photoshop in conjunction with css… the concepts are easy, the application is what i’m finding difficult.

I am starting out by designing a site in photoshop, just the appearance, then cutting it up and assigning the different images to different divs…

is this how it is generally done? Is there another more efficient way? help please

If this is your first attempt a building a website I would suggest you aboandon your current plan.

Designing in photoshop and cutting it up to produce a site requires some degree of familiarity with how a site functions.

This method is very inflexable for site chabges or can be a lot of work to change.

A good way to understand how this method works is to get hold of a template that has full page psd files with it and see hoew it was built.

I would suggest builing your site using an editor like dreamweaver, building in html and produce graphics as you need them for inssertion into the site.

The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind.

Not how I’d do it. Yes, you can prototype a page in PS (Illy would be better) but you shouldn’t use PS as the actual basis for a page. Once you have the prototype (i.e. the look and feel) you should move over to Dreamweaver or GoDead and design the site there. (By design I mean do all the work that will make the site look like the prototype, whilst adding the code that makes it work).

Then you just drop in any images and so forth to the created page(s).
