I created a new document with a transparent background and now I want to make the background a solid colour.
Can I change it somewhere?

If the layer is transparent? – you can always add a new layer beneath and
fill that with the colour you want!

Yep simply fill it using the paint can or brush tool, or better fill a new layer below your transparent one.

The problem with the world is that everyone is a few drinks behind.

Select all and fill with your color.

I tried that but I my main layer that has a transparent background also has an opacity of 75% and I can’t get rid the checkerboard grey squares that show transparency.
I know they won’t print but I’d rather see them when I show it online.

Make a new layer.

Fill it with color.

Drag it to the bottom of the stack in the Layers palette.
