I have a shape i need to cut out some specific shapes out of it
The selection tool

only has rectangular, Elliptical, single row and single column options?
Is there another selection tool i am not aware of?

by doing a right-click on the selection tool (and other tools as well for additional tools) you’ll find the magic selection
tool. this will help you cut out the shape by pixels. also, you can use the alt and ctrl keys in conjunction with the
selection tool to provide more selection options.

The pen tool will give you the most control especially if you zoom the image while you are working on it. All those other "magic" selection tools leave a lot to be desired unless you have a very plain background and even then they don’t work too well.

If you want good results you will have to spend some time getting them, there is no free lunch!!

They are transparent gif’s created using the pen tool. The background was completely eliminated and the pics were made into transparent gif’s so that the background of the web page shows through. It gives them almost a 3D look.
