My computer crashed over a week ago and my backup CDs turned out to be corrupt thanks to PowerQuest. I formatted twice (not important) and did a clean install on Windows XP Pro. I have a gig of ram. Among the other programs i’ve re-installed and are working fine are Photoshop 6.0, Photoshop 7.0, Photoshop Album 2.0 and Acrobat 6.0. I installed Photoshop CS from the original disc but it is "dead-in-the-water." I also did a re-install of it yesterday, with no changes in it’s affliction. I am frustrated and angry at this. When I click the CS icon the shell comes up
with the box in the middle. It reads plugins, presets, initializes, and the comes to Reading Fonts…. At that point, it goes no further. Totally freezes. I can’t even close it with taskmgr. Can’t even close photoshop.exe running as a process in task manager. My only recourse is to do a reboot to get it off my screen. The only thing I can find that may be related is in Windows Event Viewer about the time I try to load CS that say, "Windows cannot unload your classes registry file-It is still in use by other applications or services. Please help. Paul Odom,
