When I saving a Photoshop file in JPEG2000 format then only Photoshop itself can read this format. I could not view Jpeg2000 files saved in Photoshop using everything that I was able to find: Morgan plug-in for Internet Explorer, ThumbsPlus5, Coreldraw. Does it mean that Photoshop produces own version of Jpeg2000? If not than what plug-in for browser can view Jpeg200 files from Photoshop?
Best regards, Toller

The JPEG2000 format has not been adopted by very many applications. I downloaded the add-in so that I could use it with Photoshop, but as you have learned the images cannot be used by other programs. Consequently, I have stopped using the JPEG2000 option. Just use the regular JPEG format and you’ll get along just fine.

except it’s lossy. don’t re-save except for final output.

Indeed, it is lossy. I was thinking about using the Jpeg2000 format to backup my photo’s. Ordinary JPEG is not suitable for this because it is lossy. JPEG2000 is an excellent format for these purposes. And I’m afraid to keep everything in the RAW format. Who knows after a few years the manufacturer will abandon this format and nobody will be able to read this. Toller

I’ve got the same questions about jpg2000. Use PSD or TIF or PNG for backups.
