when I hit "save" on a new img or "save as" on an existing img I can never save with thumbnail, it’s grayed out, I can’t select it; why is this? (am on Photoshop CS, on Windows 2000) this is very annoying as then I can’t view img thumbnails in img-viewing programs (yes, I can view thumbnails inside PS itself, but I’d rather use other applications I have for that, and at any rate, I don’t understand why this PS feature isn’t working..) thank you very much.. Frances

you are outta luck cause Adobe did that in CS on purpose. In my opinion it’s a step backward and forces you to use their file browser whether you want to or not. it’s a real pain when using Windows Explorer to organize your files.

Is that really true? In the Macintosh version you can set this in the preferences. If you choose ‘Always Save’, the option is greyed out, but if you choose ‘Ask When Saving’ you can select or deselect it.

it saves them for it’s own file browser, but if you are in windows it shows an icon instead of a thumbnail.
you can see them on a MAC?
if so another case of adobe dissing us PC users. It is ridiculous to get rid of such a useful feature.

Yes, if I choose to save icons and previews from Photoshop, I can see them with other programs (and the Macintosh Finder, which is the same as Windows browser) as well.
