I am using PSCS with an Epson 1290 (UK) printer, Sony GDM F520 monitor, and Matrox P650 vga card.
Until recently I was getting quite acceptable prints (i.e. what came out of the printer was a pretty good match for what I saw on the monitor) using the Epson 1290 ICC paper profiles in the CS print profile and "No colour adjustment" selected in the Epson software.
Then suddenly (I don’t know why) these settings started to produce a purple or reddish cast, or a garish over saturation, both on the Epson print preview image and on the prints themselves. This image corruption is not visible in the PS print preview.
The cast and oversaturation disappear when I use other print profiles such as "Same as Source" or the "Epson 1290".
I can of course just use these other profiles as alternatives but all the advice I have read is that the individual paper profiles are superior.
From what I have read it looks as though colour management may be taking place twice – but if true, I am baffled by this because colour management is switched off in the Epson software.
I have reinstalled the Epson software and individual paper profiles. This made no difference. The monitor is very recently calibrated using Adobe Gamma and the resulting profile correctly loaded.
I know that a reddish or purple cast has arisen before with the Epson 1290 but I have not been able to find a solution searching the web. If anyone has one, I’d be very grateful to know what it is.
Thanks.
David
